MATCH REPORT
Coleshill finally made the trip to Corby, a game that had been called off twice before due to constant rain over the first two months of the year. A scrappy game with the ball in the air a lot! Coleshill did look the better team in the first half and had the better chances but Corby came more into the game as the half progressed and the visitors keeper Cameron Belford made his first save from a rare strike from Perkins. Minutes later Tristan Dunkley had the best chance of the half when he got on the end of a cross by Harry Sweeney but Corby keeper Theo Avery made a magnifent save from point blank range. Coleshill did however take the lead just two minutes before the break. A Ben Usher-Shipway long throw-in into the danger area was cleverly flicked on by Dunkley to Dan Brookes at the far post who managed to squeeze the ball between the keeper and post with his left foot into the net.
The home side came out for the second half all guns blazing! A scramble on the edge of the box saw several desperate tackles by the Coleshill defence and when Jones went to ground the referee pointed to the spot. Jones made a quick recovery and got up to take, and convert the penalty. Coleshill struggled to regain their composure and on 58 minutes Corby took the lead. A cross from left field found Jordan Crawford completely unmarked inside the box and he beat keeper Belford with a fine left footed strike. At this point Corby looked the more likely to take the points but on 64 minutes a clearance by Dan Brookes caught the home defence square and Marvellous Onabirekhanlen ran through on goal and calmly slotted the ball into the net beyond the diving Avery. That should have been game on but neither side was good enough to find a winner and had to settle for a draw.
