THE NON LEAGUE PAPER WROTE
James Magic Touch!

A late James Harrison goal saw Coleshill Town edge out Bromsgrove Sporting. Harrison’s poked effort squirmed over the line with two minutes remaining to send the Colemen through. Sporting started the match brightly enough with Mike Taylor heading over inside the first minute and Jason Cowley clipping the crossbar 25 minutes in. The lively Kai Tonge headed the ball into the clutches of Daniel Platt nine minutes into the second half, while Cowley had two efforts off target for the home side. Taylor had an overhead kick saved by Paul Hathaway midway through the half, with the only goal coming in the 88th minute as Harrison managed to get a shot away from inside the box that crept over the line.
Star Man: Kai Tonge.

MATCH REPORT
Bromsgrove and Coleshill have had some ding dong battles over the last few years but with Sporting’s promotion to the Southern League Premier it was written in the stars that they would meet in an FA competition. The home side where clear favourites despite not doing too well in their own league, Coleshill had been struggling in their league as well but all that goes out the window when these two sides meet.
The home side where the quickest out of the blocks as Taylor headed a corner over the bar and in a goalmouth scramble Coleshill’s defence cleared off the line. Town hit back when a Kai Tonge left foot shot was saved by Platt. Former Town player Chris Lait travelled across field and found Cowley whose shot hit the junction of crossbar and post. The referee’s pocket book was filling up as both sides earned yellow cards as tackles got a bit tasty. The pace of the game continued at a frenzy but neither keeper was brought into action as the half finished goalless.

The yellow cards continued as Mussa pulled back Kai Tonge and from a Max Brogan corner Tonge had a great chance to open the scoring but his header went straight to the keeper. Joe Halsall had a goalbound effort blocked and a Cowley turn and shot went over the bar. Cowley then headed over and Taylor had a shot saved by Town keeper Paul Hathaway. From a Hathaway long ball Gio Dainty flicked on and Daniel Dubidat’s effort was deflected for a corner. Lait shot from distance straight at Hathaway. With the clock ticking on it looked like penalties, no extra time in this game, but Town substitute James Harrison, who had only been on the pitch a few minutes, was alert and the first to react as a throw in came into the box and Harrison poked the ball under the keeper and into the net. There was still time for Lait to level but his shot from inside the box hit the side netting.
Coleshill’s first ever win in the Trophy away to Wisbech looks even better now with this hard earned win over a team now playing in a higher league. Who’s up next for Town?
