Season Review:
Second season in the Southern League and after finishing the first in 9th place, the hope was to go better and make the Play Offs. As it turned out the season finished early due to Covid 19, 28 league games, with Town in 14th place. The season didn’t get off to the best start with a defeat in the FA Cup at the first hurdle against a team from a lower level again, Whitchurch Alport. One win in the first seven league games, and a first round defeat to Hednesford in the League Cup didn’t help but a fine 6-0 win at Wantage settled the nerves. Town failed to win in the Trophy again losing to Chasetown and then exited the Walsall Senior Cup to Wolverhampton Casuals. In the Birmingham Senior Cup a fine win over the R.A.F. was followed by a defeat on penalties against Tamworth. Success was on the cards in the J.W.Hunt Cup but after wins against Bustleholme and Darleston the pandemic meant the competition was brought to a halt. A winning run of four games, Kempston, Welwyn Garden City, Thame and Didcot, kept Coleshill above the relegation spots and the best performance saw the Colemen beat the league leaders Corby Town with just 10 men. Another high scoring win against Wantage, 7-1, just before the season was declared “Null and Void” meant Coleshill will perform in the Southern League once again next season.
