MATCH REPORT
Football’s full of cliches! One says, “Luck evens itself out over a season”. Well if that’s true when Coleshill’s luck changes it will be time to put the lottery on. The Colemen’s bad luck continued in this game mainly due to being on the wrong side of some woeful refereeing decisions. That’s not taking anything away from North Leigh who despite travelling all the way from Oxford on a lousy Monday night, played really well in the first half but Coleshill definitely deserved something from the game on their second half performance.
The visitors took the lead as early as the 4th minute when their high pressing was rewarded with a gift of a goal. A poor defensive header to Coleshill’s keeper was pounced upon by Morgan Williams who touched the ball round keeper Paul Hathaway and scored. It was 2-0 inside 15 minutes for the Millers and it was a brilliant goal, although it did look well off side. 16 year old left back Warren McSkelly played a perfectly weighted through ball to Seacole and the striker was the winner in a 1-on-1 with Hathaway. Coleshill had a stonewall penalty waved away when Luke Keen was clattered to the floor in the box and then further disaster followed when Keenan Meakin-Richards was shown a straight Red card just before the break with a high challenge on Gillet.
Half time 2-0 down and also down to ten men.
A much improved second half saw Coleshill pin back the visitors into their own half for virtually the whole 45 minutes. Their only reward came in the 80th minute when the Millers keeper Cavanagh made a fine close range save but the rebound landed at Edilson Panzo-Antonio’s feet who knocked the ball into the net. Coleshill pushed for an equaliser in the last ten minutes but it wasn’t to be.
The performance was much better and although Coleshill may have lost the game, they regained their respect, with an outstanding second half performance. The question is can they replicate that performance on a regular basis. Only time will tell but if they do results, and a bit of good luck, will come their way.

COLESHILL POST WROTE
Coleshill were 2-0 down within 15 minutes as the visitors flew out of the blocks but the Colemen slowly worked their way into the game. Disaster struck when Keenan Meakin-Richards was shown a straight Red card for a high challenge just before half time. Down to 10 men and two goals behind it was do or die time and Coleshill really went for it in the second half and dominated play. Edilson Panzo-Antonio scored with ten minutes remaining and Coleshill pushed for an equaliser but it was not to be. It's been a tough season so far but the Colemen showed enough in the second 45 minutes to know they will be fine! Just need their luck to turn from bad to good as soon as possible.

Millers Triumph in the Midlands
BY EDWARD MARTIN

North Leigh returned from the West Midlands with all 3 points moving up to 9th in the league after a brilliant 1st half performance
North Leigh made the trip up the M40 on a cold and very wet Monday evening to face Coleshill Town FC in a rearranged Southern League Fixture. The Millers, unbeaten on the road this year, and looking to extend that run bagging another three points from this game.

The starting eleven included a couple of notable changes, captain Ben Brown missing out through injury and after impressing last time out against Banbury United, Warren McSkelly kept his place in the back line for a league debut.

Torrential rain had been falling most of the afternoon, with the game likely only to have survived as it was played on Coleshill’s 3G pitch. The Millers didn’t let the squally conditions put them off though, as they took an early lead after 3 minutes. Morgan Williams pounced on a looping back header, rounded the advancing keeper, and squeezed his effort between the retreating defender on the line and the left hand post. The lead was perhaps slightly overshadowed 5 minutes later as Josh Dutton-Black was forced off injured, having received treatment on the pitch.

The Millers were well on top in the opening exchanges and doubled their lead with less than 15 minutes on the clock. McSkelly showed great composure wide on the half way line to thread a precise through ball for George Seacole. The striker was 1-on-1 with the home keeper and placed the ball into the back of the net.

The remainder of the half was played out in a much more even balance. North Leigh continued to create chances, Seacole even putting the ball in the net for a 2nd time only to see his effort ruled out for off side. Whilst the home team came into the game more as the half progressed, notably forcing Eddie Cavanagh into a fine save from a long-range volley.

The flashpoint of the half came just before half time as Coleshill centre back Keenan Meakin-Richards was given a straight red card, for what looked a heavy challenge on Billy Gillett in the left flank. The home side with an uphill task now to rescue anything from the game.

Coleshill came out a much different side in the second half, seemingly galvanised by going down to ten men. In fact, they had much the better of the second half as they created openings on several occasions but were just unable to find a finish or quality ball when required. The Millers, restricted to playing on the break, should have scored a third as Gillett and Seacole got in behind the home defence, but Paul Hathaway produced a fine save down low to keep the game in the balance with time ticking down.

With ten minutes left, the home side did get on the score sheet. A corner was whipped in, with Cavanagh making a point blank save from the initial header, but was left helpless as Edilson Panzo-Antonio tucked the rebound away. That made for a nervy final 10 minutes.

North Leigh managed those remaining minutes effectively though, and closed out the game by looking to keep possession in the corners of the pitch. Three points secured from another away trip and in testing conditions as well.
