MATCH REPORT
Only six games into the season and these two sides have done the home and away games and won’t meet again until, hopefully, next season. With Coleshill winning the first game convincingly, Daventry were after revenge and in truth there was very little between the sides. Daventry were quickest out of the blocks with a couple of impressive runs down the left wing by Fitzgerald. Liam Molesworth squirmed his way along the bye line but keeper Cerga cut out his cross at the near post and Fitzgerald shot wide in what was a lively start but a series of fouls, mostly on Molesworth, meant the game lost its momentum and when Liam Molesworth looked for retribution it got a bit tasty as well with Confue at the centre of things, Sod’s law he would have the last word. Finch came the closest to bothering the scoreboard as he flicked on a Fitzgerald free kick only to see his effort pass the wrong side of the post. Luke Keen had Coleshill’s only chance of the half when he turned and shot inside the box but his effort was blocked and that was it at half time.

If the home side started the first 45 on top Coleshill did the same in the second forcing early corners but still not troubling the keeper. The nearest the Colemen came was when Joe Cole cut inside from wide right and sent in a left foot cross that Cerga had to tip over the bar. On 66 minutes with Coleshill in the ascendancy, Orosz broke from the edge of his own box and made yards and yards. With Coleshill backing off Orosz found Confue in oceans of space and time to pick his spot with a perfect hit from 25 yards into the top corner, the only piece of real quality in the whole game, put Daventry one up. Frustration followed with both Lewis Rankin on his debut and George Washbourne going into the book followed quickly by Daventry’s Emery. Coleshill tried hard for an equaliser but the closest they came was a Lewis Rankin free kick that shaved the post. Did either keeper make a save at all during the 90 minutes, if they did I missed it.
Another disappointing defeat for Coleshill but they are not too far away, just need to score a goal now and again.

Next up a visit to Bustleholme in the JW Hunt Cup, maybe we can get a win there!
