MATCH REPORT
Surprisingly, with just 30 miles separating the two towns, and both clubs founded well over a 100 years ago, Coleshill and Daventry had never met in a competitive game before.
An early chance fell to the visitors when a through ball by Emery almost set up a goal for Taylor but Brandon Ganley in the Coleshill goal gathered at the second attempt. It wasn't long before the home side took the lead when Amarvir Sandu got behind the Daventry defence and was brought down by keeper Cerga. Luke Keen confidently stood up and scored from the spot against one of his former teams, five minutes gone. It was almost two immediately as Joe Smith rounded the keeper but Cerga made up by somehow getting back to make a fine save. But the Colemen were on fire and on 13 minutes Rudy Misambu scored his first for the club when the big man powered home a far post header from a Joe Smith corner. It was 3-0 after 19 minutes with the best goal yet as Luke Keen flicked home a Rudy Misambu cross at the near post. Just before the half hour mark Matt Jackson scored Coleshill's fourth. The defender had stopped up following a corner and as the ball was recycled back into the box captain Jackson rifled a low right foot shot into the net from 8 yards out. Brandon Ganley saved a King shot from the edge of the box at full stretch and blocked a McGowan goalbound header as the half drew to a close.
Half Time Coleshill 4 Daventry 0
With the game pretty much won, the next 45 minutes was more even. Coleshill had chances to increase the lead but the better efforts came from the visitors. Taylor Orosz burst through the home defence but his shot hit the post. On the hour mark Emery was brought down in the box and Creaney scored from the spot. Orosz also hit the post from a free kick but the Colemen held out for a fine first win of their second season in the Southern League.
A great first half performance where every Coleshill player worked their socks off and put the game out of reach.
