TAMWORTH (Coleshill) HERALD WROTE
End Of Goal Famine

Coleshill Town are back on the winning trail and gathering league points after three barren months. They were clearly the better team in this encounter but at one stage the advantage was surrendered and a goal conceded against a very ordinary Kings Heath side. The New Year prospects for Coleshill are improving as Keith Shrimpton assembles a side capable of making an impression on this tough, uncompromising league. Coleshill striker Terry Smith will remember this game well. Relegated to the substitutes bench, he scored with his first kick after replacing Martin Nugent in the second half. That goal was Smith's first Midland Combination goal and turned out to be Coleshill's winner. Ranjid Singh made his home debut, filling a problem spot in the Coleshill goal. Darren Giles and Ian Paul also made their first appearance at Pack Meadow. The home side dominated the first half, Micky Collins dominant in any high ball situation, but his headers lacked direction. It was Ian Paul who had the best chance in the first half. He fed on a peach of a pass from Darren Giles and then found the legs of Hipkins in the Kings Heath goal blocking his shot. Kings Heath might have altered the whole complexion of the game if Ray Yoemans had accepted a chance seven minutes from the interval. He scooped the ball over the bar when it looked easier to score. In fact the visitors went ahead in the 54th minute following a corner kick. It was only partially cleared and Lee Sargent was quick to take advantage, beating Singh with a shot just inside the post. The equaliser came in the 68th minute. Bishop sent Jordan away with a deep diagonal pass. The full back centred and Micky Collins hit the ball home from some ten yards. Nugent was pulled out of the action in the 72nd minute with Smith taking over. A minute later Ian Paul fired in a shot that Hipkins was unable to hold and Smith made no mistake with the rebound.
