Coleshill Fail With Fire Power

Coleshill Town once more failed to solve their goal scoring problem in this game against League Leaders Paget Rangers. As a result of this lack of success in front of goal, Paget were able to walk away with an easy victory that completed a double over struggling Town. There was a touch of misfortune about the first goal. Central Defender Chris Davies was off the pitch receiving attention to an ankle injury when Paget raided down the right. A cross found Seamus Roache in space and the tall striker jumped unimpeded to nod the ball home. If Davies had been on the pitch he may have picked up Roache. His replacement was Mick Collins and he took on that responsibility. The second goal came in the 27th minute. Gary Harris walked into the penalty area, turned Mark Bishop inside out and unleashed a shot that keeper Graham Jones should have saved. Paget had two more efforts ruled out by the referee before Steve Briscoe thumped a free kick against the Paget bar. The second half was different. Coleshill asserted their authority in midfield and chances were made and missed. When a goal did come it was Paget who got it. Wayne Jenkins was the scorer and he carved his way through the centre following a free kick. No effective challenge was made and Jenkins slotted home with just seven minutes to go. This week Coleshill travel to Solihull Borough for a Midland Combination game. Either Peter Watts or Terry Smith will lose their place because Keith Shrimpton will be bringing in ex-Walsall player Ian Paul. Chris Davies is doubtful with that ankle injury and manager Shrimpton is likely to introduce a new face in midfield.
