TAMWORTH (Coleshill) HERALD
Coleshill Caught By Police

This top of the table clash had all the fervour of a cup tie, with so much at stake in the run in for the championship. Both sides had an equal share of the play in the first ten minutes, with Rosborough for Coleshill causing the Police defence problems. His piercing runs down the right took there toll and Dorrian caused the Coleshill defence problems at the other end. Coleshill were awarded several free kicks in this period for fouls from Piggott and Scriven, who were apparently given the benefit of the doubt by the referee. Coleshill forced two corners and had the home defence in trouble for a period but Tinkler rallied his men and they weathered the storm. Rosborough made one of his runs down the right and his pass to Nez Kelly was well saved by Compton diving at the forward's feet to save what would have been a certain goal. The Police took the lead when Andrews headed back a long throw from Grimshaw and Buttress running in on the blind side caught Duddy flat-footed in the Coleshill defence to blast home from close range giving keeper Civil no chance. Coleshill equalised when a long throw from Mathews was flicked on by Ashman to Rosborough, who headed into the corner of the net. Coleshill were unlucky not to take the lead on the half hour when a shot from Ashman hit the bar with keeper Compton well beaten. Five minutes before half time the Police took the lead when Andrews rose above the Coleshill defence, heading the ball across the face of goal for Ellis to head home. Immediately from the restart Coleshill piled on the pressure and several high tackles from Piggott and Smith resulted in the latter being booked. The Police relied upon the long ball through the middle, whereas Coleshill concentrated on playing their one touch football which has seem them outplay many teams this season. Coleshill were awarded yet another free kick when Nez Kelly was brought down from behind by Scriven and Clarke's shot aimed at the far top corner of the goal, hit the upright to deny Coleshill the equaliser. Coleshill were by now well on top and pushing for the equaliser and several goal bound efforts were cleared off the line during a goalmouth scramble before Ashman's shot crossed the line with Dorrian handling in an attempt to prevent the goal.

REPORT FROM WEST MIDLANDS POLICE PROGRAMME
(Date unknown)
Both sides had an equal share of the opening exchanges with Dorrian causing problems in the air and Rossborough for the visitors looking dangerous. Coleshill forced two corners and putting the home defence in trouble for a period but Tinkler rallied his men and they weathered the storm. A fine run by Nardiello looked promising butBishop cut out the final cross. The Police went ahead when Andrews headed back a long throw in by Grimshaw and Buttress running in on the blind side blasted the ball past the helpless keeper. Coleshill were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box but Tinkler managed to cut out the goal bound effort. Coleshill equalised from a long throw in when the Police defence was caught flatfooted and Rossborough headed into the bottom corner. Coleshill nearly went ahead after another defensive error but Compton pulled off a fine save. The Police took the lead when Andrew rose above the Coleshill defence and headed across the face of goal for Ellis who headed past the bewilder keeper. Nardiello broke clear down the left and laid the ball into Scriven’s path on the edge of the area but the burly striker lifted his head and struck his shot high over the bar. It turned out to be an expensive miss with Coleshill clawing their way back in the 79th minute, Dyer sent over an inswinging corner and Ashman squeezed in a header at the far post.
