Penalty Keeps Town On Top

A penalty from Lee Jenkins extended Coleshill's unbeaten run to ten games, to keep them on top of the Midland Combination Premier Division. On a pitch made heavy by deep mud, the game was never going to be a classic, but Coleshill made the early running and Roy Ashman should have done better than shoot at the keeper when Dave Moore put him through. Lee Jenkins made a bold run into the Paget box and when he was tripped, Referee Evans had no hesitation in pointing to the spot for a penalty which Jenkins converted himself. Coleshill were dealt a blow after the break when sweeper Mark Bishop went off with a calf strain, forcing a defensive re-organisation. Paget put a lot of pressure on the visitors goal but keeper Mark Civil made two tremendous saves from Sharpe, which helped Coleshill towards more vital championship points.
