SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Foot-Sure Coleshill

Midland Combination side Coeshill finally won their mammoth Semi Final when they ousted their West Midlands League rivals Armitage. Their hero was sweeper Andy Foote, who scored in the first half of extra time. Coleshill started the match in style when they took a surprise lead after Titley had been caught in possession by Polack. The home side quickly drew level, in the 13th minute, when a ball from Morris found Stuart Evans who managed to find the net through a packed goalmouth. During a scrappy second half, several players from both sides were cautioned by Referee Mr Clift, but Armitage finally ended the frustration, in the 79th minute when a long floated centre by skipper Andy Morris found the unmarked James who, with a superbly deft header, placed the ball past the stranded Howkins. The never say die Coleshill struck back in the 88th minute when substitute Kenning (could be Canning) centred low to Williamson, who drove home the equaliser. In a drama packed extra time, Coleshill were awarded a penalty, but a brilliant diving save from Sharrard stopped Dyer's shot. A minute later, the visitors clinched the tie from a corner, the ball came to the unmarked Foote who nodded it into the empty net.
