STRATFORD UPON AVON HERALD
Town Manage A Point

Stratford gained another away point on Saturday, at Coleshill, from what was rather a scrappy game. Stratford battled well but the fluency of their forward moves was missing and therefore many of their attacks broke down because the final ball was delayed or off target. During the first half Stratford held the slight edge and Agit Braich figured prominently down the left flank. After 10 minutes Stratford broke quickly following a Coleshill corner. The ball was played to Julian Thomas who in turn passed to Braich who had found plenty of room and made ground down the left wing before crossing. However, Coleshill's goalkeeper had came well off his line to make an important save as both Thomas and Whitehouse challenged for the ball. Shortly after this attack, Stratford had a good opportunity to score when Steve Johnson intercepted a back pass and pushed the ball wide of the advancing keeper only to see his shot go wide of the far post. Coleshill retaliated by forcing five corners in quick succession. The pressure was relieved when Lee Jenkins shot wide giving Stratford a goal kick and time to reform. Bothe defences were beginning to get to grips with their tasks and chances were few and far between. In the final minutes of the half Stratford were awarded a free kick just outside of the penalty area. Carlos Mathew's shot was about a yard too high. The second half continued in the same vein and it was beginning to look like a goalless draw was going to be the probable result. Stratford were not getting the ball into the penalty area as quickly as they had done in previous games and, although they were playing very competitively, their attacks were not penetrating Coleshill's defence. After 70 minutes however, Coleshill took the lead. They were a little fortunate to gain possession on the left flank and Jennings knocked the ball inside to their inside forward who turned to hit a fine shot which Lee Spencer got a hand to but could only defect into the roof of the net. (But who was it, lazy journalism) Stratford, however, were soon back on level terms when they equalised in the 72nd minute. A series of one-two moves eventually found Eamonn O'Loughlin in the clear, inside the penalty area. His hot beat Coleshill's goalkeeper who had come off his line to narrow the angle. After those two quick goals the game returned to it's previous pattern and neither side could break the deadlock again.
