SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Despite the set back of an early goal, Racing went in at half time with a comfortable lead after Steve Edgington had struck twice. The match was only 15 seconds old when Jennings gained possession on the left before cutting in and slid the ball past the advancing Nicholls. In the 19th minute the home side got back on terms. Coleman's cross was headed down to Hannam but his effort was saved by Howkins, only for the ball to break to Edgington who fired into the roof of the net. In the 36th minute a close range diving header from Hannam gave Racing the lead after a delicate chip from Chinn. On the stroke of half time, Racing increased their lead after Howkins had fumbled Bryan's drive, Edgington was on hand to slot home.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
A Steve Edgingham hat trick proved just enough for Racing as they gained revenge for an early season defeat at Coleshill. Racing were knocked back on their heels when Jennings fired the visitors into the lead after only 15 seconds. Edgington levelled matters in the 19th minute after Howkins had saved from Hannam. It was Hannam who gave Racing the lead on 36 minutes with a diving header from Chinn's cross. On the stroke of half time Edgington snapped up a rebound for his second and in the 55th minute he raced onto Lee's through ball to complete his hat trick. Jennings reduced the deficit for the visitors on the hour, shooting home from 10 yards. With time running out Coleshill became desperate yet with just two minutes remaining Lloyd gave them some hope with a close range volley.
