Colin's Pride Is Restored By Goal Romp

Less than 12 months after suffering the worst defeat of his long career, Coleshill Town boss Colin Holder was this week reflecting on the opposite end of football's scale of fortune. Coleshill's 9-0 defeat at Cinderford in the closing weeks of last season was the heaviest reversal that Holder had experienced during 23 years in the game and the humiliation hurt his pride. But that defeat was finally etched from the memory when Coleshill enjoyed a goal romp of their own in a 7-0 win over Knowle last Saturday - to leave Holder beaming with delight. "No one at the club can remember a bigger score over the past 20 years or so," he said, "and it has both boosted our confidence and lifted us to the verge of a top six place. With us also being through to the Semi Final of the Walsall Senior Cup, things are really looking up." The big win over a struggling Knowle outfit also gave evidence of the new influence provided by an influx of new signings at Coleshill in recent weeks. After the recruitment of Andy Foote from Banbury, Holder brought in ex-Moor Green and Bromsgrove midfielder Alan Lloyd, much travelled winger Kirk Jennings, former Villa apprentice Lee Jenkins and youngster Mark Caulfield, the son of Paget boss Eddie Caulfield. "They have all settled to their tasks well and we have put together a useful run of results," continued Holder. "But I am confident that the best is still to come." In the Walsall Senior Cup, Coleshill meet Armitage, one of Holder's previous clubs. The other Semi Final tie pairs Sutton Coldfield Town with Wolverhampton United.

Home debut for Alan Lloyd.
