Coleshill Back In Cup As Blakenall Kicked Out

Coeshill Town were reinstated into the Walsall Senior Cup this week. Beaten 2-1 by Blakenall in the competition on Saturday, the Midland Combination outfit lodged a protest that their West Midlands League opponents had played an illegible player - new signing Gary Thacker. A meeting of the Walsall FA on Wednesday night took positive action against Blakenall to combine throwing them out of the cup with a small fine. But it was a decision that was tinged with a hint of disappointment for Coleshill boss Colin Holder. "It is great to be through, but we would have rather beaten Blakenall." he said. "We would really have liked to have had the game replayed". Holder, who has lost promising prospect Danny Williams to Dudley, has added new signings Graham Stokes from Halesowen and goalkeeper Steve Howlins from Boldmere to his squad.
