SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Stratford emphasized their recent improvement and made it six games without defeat with two goals from Keith Hancocks. Stratford took the lead on the half hour with Hancocks shooting home and although Coleshill pushed hard for an equaliser in the second half, Stratford made sure of the points with three minutes left when Hancocks scored with a well placed drive from 18 yards.

CHELMSLEY NEWS WROTE
Coleshill Town suffered a disappointing 2-0 league defeat at Stratford. Hoping to return to winning ways Coleshill began brightly enough against Stratford, but were hit by a Keith Hancocks goal on the half hour. Coleshill made a determined effort to get back in the game during the second half, but Stratford made it six games without defeat with another goal from Hancocks three minutes from the end.

STRATFORD UPON AVON HERALD WROTE
Not Flowing But Effective

Two goals by Keith Hancocks secured another two points for Stratford against Coleshill, who had opened the season impressively. Stratford's performance, if not full of flowing football, was very effective, and they rarely looked as if they were going to have any serious problems. They created by far the better chances and the scoreline could have looked far more decisive. Stratford could have opened the scoring after three minutes after a fine move resulted in a through ball being played through into the path of Keith Hancocks whose left foot shot was only thwarted by a fine diving save from Coleshill's goalkeeper. Although a lot of the game was being fought out in the midfield, Stratford were slowly getting on top. After 20 minutes Paul Bayliss nearly put Stratford in front when, with his back to goal, he hooked a bouncing ball back over his head only to see his shot hit and post and then cleared to safety. Stratford opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a fine goal. Ian Montgomery and Agit Braich combined to feed the ball out to Don Grantham on the right wing. Grantham was closely marked but he did very well in beating his marker and getting to the bye line before crossing to the far post. The cross looked too deep but Hancocks brought the ball under control before scoring with an acute angled drive. Stratford were well worthy of their lead and pressed for a second goal. Ulyatt was causing Coleshill problems from set pieces and twice his headers from corners should have produced further goals for Stratford. Stratford, leading at half time 1-0, started the second half in similar fashion. After only five minutes of the second half Bayliss was put clear but saw his lobbed shot not only beat the goalkeeper but also the near post. Although Stratford remained very competitive they did tend to go off the boil for a spell in the middle of the second half and it looks as if they were prepared to rely on their defensive capabilities to bring them the two points. But as the game went into the final 15 minutes, as in previous games, their fitness began to tell and Coleshill were again put under pressure. This pressure came to a head in the 87th minute with another fine goal. The ball was fed down the right flank to Don Grantham. He took on his defender and beat him before pulling the ball back to the edge of the penalty area to Keith Hancocks who met it first time to score with a right foot shot inside the far post.
