Town Crash Out Of Vase

Anstey, from the Leicestershire Senior League, proved far too good for struggling Midland Combination side Coleshill and coasted to an easy F.A. Vase victory. For the first half hour Coleshill looked like making a game of it but they failed to maintain this form and on the half hour Wardle pounced upon a defensive error to put Anstey in front. Three minutes before half time Wardle was again on target. Coleshill’s defence was guilty again in the 60th minute and Downing eagerly nipped in to net Anstey’s third goal. In the next minute a shot from Anstey’s Brookes hit the post and after 75 minutes Kirby notched the visitors fourth goal. Wardle rounded off the scoring by completing his hat-trick in the 80th minute, heading in from a corner taken by Burdette. Coleshill’s manager Mel strong said: “As usual when things are not going right the team is punished for mistakes and that is what happened on Saturday. Although the result did not suit us we all learned from it and the spirit among the players is still good. We hope to give a better performance in our home game with Knowle this Saturday.”
