SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Coleshill Town went down 3-2 at home to Long Eaton United. All the goals came in the first half with Craig Milligan and Jordan Nadat cancelling out an early brace for the visitors, only for Town's Rob Evans to put through his own net just before the interval.

REPORT
Coleshill in 3rd place and Long Eaton in 17th should be a home banker! But Coleshill nearly always struggle against Long Eaton's, shall we say, robust and direct style of play! The Colemen were just not at the races for the first twenty minutes and were caught one on one at the back several times. Despite this the visitors keeper, Low, made two fine saves from Tom Weale and Luke Shorthouse before United took the lead on 18 minutes when a corner was only half cleared and O'Connor was on hand at the far post to force the ball home. It was 2-0 on 23 minutes from another corner when Towey headed home. How were Coleshill to come back from this? Well up stepped Craig Milligan and on 33 minutes he forced his way into the box via a 1-2 with Shorthouse, brushed past a defender and scored from an acute angle. Just three minutes later Milligan's pin-point cross-field ball sent Mykel Beckley away down the left and his cross found Jordan Nadat who controlled and shot in one movement, 2-2 game on. back in the game and on the up but Town's hopes were shattered when Anderson got to the bye-line and crossed into the 6yard box where Rob Evans, in an effort to clear, steered the ball into his own net.

Five goals in the first half, there was going to be more, yes! No! Coleshill had the better of the second half but couldn't convert their chances and United always looked dangerous on the break. Josh Quaynor went so, so close, Milligan shot wide and Shorthouse had a shot saved. But Paul Hathaway made the save of the game as he parried a shot then tipped the follow-up over the bar.

Frustrating afternoon when Coleshill never matched the highlights of last weeks superb win and came up against a very determined side who wanted it more on the day!
