SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
There were five goals at Coleshill but it was the home side on the receiving end of a 4-1 thriller with Meir KA, and their cause was not helped when defender Jamie Harden was sent off on 40mins. On target for Meir were Scott Reaney, with two first half penalties, Wayne Morgan and Paul Legg. Town rallied late on but managed just a solo consolation goal from Lee Ebbutt.

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Coleshill Town defender Jamie Harden has been reported to the police for allegedly punching Meir KA striker Steve Bott when the two teams met for a Premier Division game. The incident reportedly took place after visitors Meir, who emerged 4-1 winners over the struggling Pack Meadow side, had been awarded a first half penalty. Some of the Coleshill players were angry at the decision, claiming Bott, the top scorer in the Premier Division last season who recently turned down a move to Hednesford Town, took a dive. Harden, it was claimed by angry Meir officials. threw a punch at Bott, who had to leave the pitch immediately and required hospital treatment for an injury to his right eye. The off the ball incident was spotted by a linesman and Harden was immediately shown a red card. Meir spokesman Graham Birks said "The totally unprovoked assault left a sour feeling on the whole of the afternoon's performance." And the club later confirmed that a charge of actual bodily harm would be brought against the player concerned. "The Police meanwhile are awaiting a full report on the incident from the match Officials." But Coleshill boss Bob Nimmons accused the potteries side of "over-reacting" to an incident which had been properly dealt with by the referee. "Coleshill have never been known to be an aggressive, nasty side. Jamie is quite a nice lad and plays football as it should be played and has never gone out to hurt anyone. There had been some winding him up before the incident which I did not see myself. Meir are taking it too far if they have called the police in. It was just part of a football game and it should be kept within a football game."
