Season Review
Martin Socketts' second season in charge almost brought the promotion that the club craved. Town got off to a great start, undefeated in the first eight games. 4 wins, 4 draws. They had early exits from the FA Vase, Friar Lane, and the Birmingham Senior Cup, Stourbridge but reached the Semi Final of the Challenge Cup before bowing out at the hands of Kings Heath. The Colemen only lost six league games all season conceding just 30 goals but draws were their downfall with ten and they ended up in third spot eight points behind second placed Meir KA and 19 points behind deserved champions Richmond Swifts. Injuries during the season to goalscoreing brothers Mark and Paul Charnley were a major factor but Coleshill finished the season strongly with just one defeat in the last ten games including a run of seven straight wins. Could 1997/98 be their year!
