SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Town Sink Dunkirk With Ten Of The Best
Marvellous Mykel Beckley bagged a first half hat-trick as rampant Coleshill Town romped to a 10-1 win at home to Dunkirk. The former Boldmere St Michaels hotshot netted in the fifth, 14th and 20th minutes for his quick fire treble against the visitors already reeling from a 35 yard screamer from Reece Leek inside the opening four minutes. A Lewis Wilcox own goal and a Luke Edwards effort just before the interval handed the Pack Meadow side a 6-1 interval lead with Dunkirk's reply coming from Ryan Mastie. And there was to be no let-up after the break with substitute Shane Benjamin scoring twice on his return from injury before Ricardo Reid rounded things off with two more late on.
MATCH REPORT
Coleshill Town went goal crazy as they warmed up for the biggest week in the club's history as they face Dunston UTS in the last 32 of the FA Vase and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Birmingham Senior Cup over the next 10 days!
Town certainly know where the net is, that's 21 goals in the last three games, and with three of their most consistent players over the last couple of years, Douglas, Weale and Rathbone, working their way back from injuries, the squad has a strong look about it!
The whole match report will be taken up with the eleven goals but take into account that the visitors keeper was Man Of The Match and Town's own stopper, Paul Hathaway, made several excellent saves, shows that the action was none stop for 90 minutes!
Coleshill took the lead with just three minutes on the clock when Reece Leek took a punt from in excess of 25 yards and his effort arrowed into the corner of the net. On five minutes Rob Evans set up Mykel Beckley inside the box and his shot on the turn took a wicked deflection off Wilcox and looped over Want in the Dunkirk goal. In reply Gacki had the ball in the net but was adjudged off-side. On 14 minutes Luke Edwards headed a corner goalward, Want kept the effort out but Beckley was on hand to force the ball home despite Want getting a hand to it. Beckley completed his quick-fire hat-trick on 29 minutes when a fine run by Reece Leek got him to the bye line and his accurate cross left Beckley with a simple pass into the net. Dunkirk pulled a goal back when a deep free kick found Frost at the far post and he picked out Ryan Mastie on the edge of the box and he side-footed the ball into the net for 4-1. It was soon 5-1 as Giovanni Dainty and Mykel Beckley played a one-two in the visitors box and Dainty's cross was deflected into his own net by the luckless Wilcox. The simplest of goals just before the break saw Luke Edwards head home a Demitrius Smikle corner.
So, a show of strength, take off hat-trick man Mykel Beckley and replace him with last seasons Golden Boot Shane Benjamin and he takes twenty seconds to head home a corner, 7-1. On 52 minutes Rob Evans made a lung busting run into the box and rolled the ball into the path of Benjamin who only had to tap into an empty net. Ricardo Reid almost got in on the act but his goal was given off side but he was back again on the hour mark when he was set free by a Benjamin through ball and he calmly shot under the keeper for 9-1. On 67 minutes Rob Evans once again made strides down the right flank and his cross found Reid at the far post and his fine finish made it 10. Still 22 minutes to play! Still lots of chances but no more goals and to be fair to Dunkirk they never let their heads drop and contributed to yet another very entertaining game on the new 3G pitch!
