Kirby Scores Against Kirby
Kirby Muxloe, although lying in 16th place, are a very good side when they play football, but their constant bitching and spoiling tactics, designed to put the opposition off, only disrupted their own play leaving Coleshill to win by four clear goals something that didn't look possible in the first 15 minutes. In that opening period it was a very good game between two very good sides. A deep cross was pushed onto the post by Town keeper Paul Hathaway and the stopper had to be quick off his line to deny Marc Shulz, and then saved from Wade Ball as Kirby pushed for the opening goal. Coleshill's best chances were coming from Chris Lloyd down the right wing. His pace was causing problems and it from one of his runs that Town took the lead on 34 minutes. Lloyd cut in along the 18 yard line and then flicked the ball to Nick Ellis in the box. Ellis went down and the Referee pointed straight to the spot. Jaz Luckie took the spot kick and made no mistake. Coleshill were now in their stride. From another Lloyd cross Luckie headed back across goal but the ball went wide of the far post, and the pair ever so nearly linked up again but Luckie only just missed a Lloyd cross. Dan Holgate then got in on the act shooting wide from 20 yards. Seconds before the break Kirby had a free kick and when the ball was forced over the line by Shulz. The Referee however decided it was hand ball. Shulz had been booked only minutes before for decent and was then shown a red card, it wasn't clear if this was a straight red or a second yellow but the result was the same, he was off! And that was the last action of the first half.
Kirby had a shout for a penalty in the opening minutes of the second period but the consensus of opinion was that he dived, and that was about the last time Kirby were seen as an attacking force. Coleshill went straight to the other end, Lloyd hit the post and Luckie side footed in the rebound 2-0, 48 minutes gone. Lloyd, Holgate, Oliver Casey and Declan Kirby all had chances to extend the lead but Coleshill had to wait until the 72nd minute and it was Luckie with his third, six in three games! Lloyd again crossed from the right and Luckie planted a header into the net. The chances kept coming, Lloyd and Brown were through on goal but the visitors keeper, Elliot Shillian, did well to thwart both front men. With 10 minutes to go Kirby scored against Kirby from, you guessed it, a Lloyd cross. Kirby substitute No16 had a couple of good efforts at goal that his pace had created but Hathaway was up to the task to keep the clean sheet. Leon Weller shot from 25 yards, the ball cannoning off the bar and when the ball fell to Brown it looked a cert for another goal but Shillian made a great save.

That's the half-way point, 21 games gone. Coleshill are in 5th place with 37 points and 46 goals scored. At the end of last season after 42 games Town had 47 points and 52 goals for. What a turn around! Everything's on the up and long may it continue!
