MATCH REPORT
MIDLAND COMBINATION PREMIER DIVISION
SATURDAY 14th FEBRUARY 2004
PERSHORE TOWN 0 v 0 COLESHILL TOWN

Coleshill gained a valuable point with a hard earned draw at Pershore and Manager Mick Beadle was pleased with their first clean sheet in nine games, especially as the home team were on a run of nine games without defeat. Following two impressive displays against Marconi and Meir, the side was starting to take shape but Beadle had to reshuffle as Frank Woodburn, Lee Dempster and Adrian Walker were all missing. Chris Davies, Ashley Downer and Chris Gee came in with Jamie Cartwright and Gary Falconbridge making up the bench.

0-0 sounds boring, but both sides had their chances in an even contest with a draw being a fair result. Mitchell Thompson had the two best chances for Coleshill, the first a one on one but as he shaped to shoot the ball bobbled and the shot came closer to the corner flag than the goal. Thompson was more composed for the second effort, but last years leading scorer watched his curving shot go just past the post. Craig Jones in the Coleshill goal had a quiet afternoon as defences dominated. Derek Wilkes marshalled the Town defence, and is beginning to form a promising partnership with centre back Simon Bradbury.

Both sides could have stolen the points right at the death as Pershore had a shot deflected past Jones but Bradbury cleared off the line with his knee, then Chris Gee lobbed the keeper, Thompson shot towards goal, the ball striking the hand of a defender. The Referee blew his whistle but for full time and not the penalty Coleshill were hoping for.

Team;- Craig Jones, Steve Lees, Simon Bradbury, Derek Wilkes, Ashley Downer, Chris Gee, Carl Smith, Chris Davies, Mitchell Thompson, Pete Hall (Danny Nixon), Kevin Wagstaff. Subs not used Jamie Cartwright, Gary Falconbridge.
