COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
There's no Christmas cheer for boss Carl as the Colemen suffer a double dose of festive frustration

COLESHILL Town boss Carl Adams was left to rue missed chances as his side picked up just one point from six over Christmas.

Town threw away a 2-0 lead as they drew with local rivals Atherstone on Christmas Eve.

They went on to lose 3-1 to league leaders Coventry Sphinx on Boxing Day, Richard Gregory netting their consolation.

Adams said: "We started superbly against Atherstone and missed a lot of chances.

"We still had a 2-0 lead but just lost our way in the last 20 minutes.

"We stopped doing what was giving us joy."

He acknowledged: "Credit Atherstone from showing some fighting spirit, but from our point of view it was very disappointing."

Adams added: "It was the opposite against Sphinx because we started really poorly and they dominated the first half.

"They showed why they are a top of the table side.

"But Gregory gave us a life-line before half time and we went in at 2-1. We created loads of chances after the break.

"It was a great effort but then we got caught on the break which was disappointing.

"Overall it's been a strange Christmas.

"It looks bad in terms of the results but from a performance point of view, there are plenty of positives that we can take from the weekend.

"If we keep playing like that I am confident we'll be back in the top eight soon.

"That's our target and I don't think we are far off achieving it."
