N.B. There seems to be some doubt about exactly who got the final touch for Coleshill's third goal, but on the league web site, and that is the official record, Danny Carter has been credited with it. Therefore another hat trick to the little wizard!

A TRIO OF TRIOS

Baker 68
Freeman 90+4

Coleshill Town moved even further towards the FA Cup proper with a magnificent win over Lincoln United, with yet another Danny Carter hat-trick, his third in a month, helping Coleshill towards the comfortable victory.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Danny Carter is simply excelling in the green and white of Coleshill, dominating every defence put in front of him. It took but 12 minutes for Carter to find the net once again, his first of the day one of the best of the 11 so far in September. After playing Dean Baker through on the right side of the penalty area, Carter continued his run into the box, receiving the ball at pace before sweeping the ball into the far corner, doing extremely well to keep the ball in the top corner rather than flying over the bar. It’s becoming less of a surprise and more of a routine when Carter scores, and after a mini fight back from the Evo-Stick League visitors, the lead was doubled as the hosts took command of the game. Steven Hakner’s corner delivery from the right was headed out into the D, the half cleared ball falling to Liam Givans, who instead of shooting, selflessly shifted the ball onto the left side of the box for Carter to slot home for 2-0 as the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Cup looked very near.
The bright attacking continued, but there will have been some concerns in the dressing room as to how Coleshill had plenty of chances but couldn’t quite put their opponents to bed. The pick of the crop came when Givans drove a vicious shot over the bar, with Carter’s resourceful header with his back to goal seeing the same fate. Lincoln weren’t without their chances, and it took a low shot to whistle past Chris Jay’s post for the defence to take note.
So it was a huge relief when the three goal cushion was finally achieved, Carter possessed the ball on the right hand side and wouldn’t relinquish it. A run into the box ended in a looped shot over the visiting ‘keeper, the ball crossing the line despite attempted last ditch defending. This sealed another hat-trick for Carter who received a huge ovation from the home and away fans upon being replaced later on.
The game should have been wrapped up, but for a headed goal by Scott Coupland from a corner, a scrappy goal but one which got Lincoln back into the game. Chris Jay needed to be alert to keep Lincoln at bay, making a few decent saves from half chances, but when Dean Baker powered a header past the ‘keeper and into the net for the fourth goal, it was surely all over with just twenty minutes to play.
A host of substitutions by both teams broke up the game towards the end, the early spark having long gone, but there was time for one more goal as Town applied gloss to the final scoreline. When a penalty was awarded for handball, Rob Freeman was given the responsibility having just recovered from two bouts of cramp. The midfielder made no mistake from the spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way, the comfortable penalty conversion summing up the entire game.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE

Carter Fires Coleshill To Shock Win
Coleshill Town 5 v 1 Lincoln United
Daniel Carter stole the show with a brace and two assists as Coleshill's record breaking FA Cup run continued with a 5-1 thumping of higher division Lincoln. Carter got the ball rolling in the 12th minute picking out Dean Baker who returned the favour for Carter to supply a perfect lobbed finish into the top left hand corner. Eleven minutes later it was two as Liam Givans controlled a Steve Hakner corner and found Carter who slid a low finish across Lincoln keeper Phil McGann. Six minutes after the break Carter lobbed the onrushing McGann and his effort was drifting wide before Chris Gumery supplied a touch at the far post and unfortunate Lincoln defender Ian Wilkins could only apply the final touch as he attempted to clear. The visitors pulled one back five minutes later when a Matt O'Halloran corner was headed home powerfully by Scott Coupland from 10 yards. Coleshill restored their three goal cushion in the 68th minute, Carter tying full back Ryan Porter up in knots before crossing from the right for Baker to head into the roof of the net from eight yards. And four minutes into added time Rob Freeman slotted home a fifth from the penalty spot after visiting defender Sean Wright handled Baker's cross to prevent sub Matty Robinson scoring.

THE NON LEAGUE PAPER WROTE
Daniel Carter grabbed a first half double to set Coleshill on their way to an impressive cup upset. The first goal arrived in the 12th minute, when Carter exchanged passes with Dean Baker before lobbing over Phil McGann. A second arrived 11 minutes later, after good work from Liam Givans. Six minutes after the break Carter was again involved. His low drive was touched towards goal by Chris Gumery for Ian Wilkins to get tangled up with the post and supply the final touch. Scott Coupland pulled one back with a header in the 56th minute, but Baker headed into the net in the 68th minute and the injured Rob Freeman added another in extra time after Sean Wright handled in the area.
