Coleshill's record against Gresley isn't very good but thankfully we haven't played against them very often. The first time they met was in the FA Cup back in 1983 when Town were in the Midland Combination and Rovers the West Midlands League. The two sides were in the Midland Alliance together for one season and have been in the Northern League together for the last two seasons.

Both sides are struggling at the wrong end of the table. Rovers are in bottom place with 18 points from 29 games and Town six places above with 31 points from 30 games. (Gresley have a game against Shepshed on Tuesday but too late to include in this programme)

Town Chase Cup Glory
Coleshill Town, the Midland Combination Premier Division outfit, have a chance to make history this weekend by reaching the first round of the F.A. Cup. But Town, who won the Walsall Senior Cup last season, must first overcome a strong test against Burton On Trent based Gresley Rovers. Rovers, who perform in the Premier Division of the West Midlands League, have a useful squad, managed by David Nish, the former Leicester City, Derby County and England defender. One potential match winner is former Derby County star Kevin Hector. (DID HE PLAY) Hector, a little slower than during his halcyon days at the Baseball Ground, is still a goal-getter, who is dangerous in dead-ball situations. But Coleshill should be up to the mark. Manager Colin Holder has done a tremendous job since taking over two years ago. The club were facing a cash crisis when Holder took charge but he trebled the regular gate, rebuilt the side, and eased the cashflow situation. The club are in the upper reaches of the Midland Combination under Holder's management and now everyone is hoping for a taste of glory tomorrow. Coleshill avoided the extra-preliminary round of the F.A. Cup thanks to their efforts in the Walsall Senior Cup.
