Coleshill Town 3 – 2 Sutton Coldfield Town

Midlands Floodlit Youth League

5th September 2007

Coleshill only took 1min to open the scoring, with Ben Lawlor hitting the back of the net for the home side. This produced a nice fast-paced game with good passing and shared possession. Sutton came close to equalizing twice in the 5’ and 20’, hitting the bar and shooting over respectively. The first half was dominated by Sutton’s passing game creating chance after chance. It took till the half hour before Coleshill created their next good chance, with Rob Evans’ lob shot coming close after Suttons failure to clear a corner. 5’ later, Coleshill extended their lead with a splendid ball played over the top by James Braid onto which Simon Dumelow ran, finishing with a left foot shot past the stranded Sutton goalie.
The 2nd half started as it had finished. With good passing and a nice fast pace. On the hour, Sutton finally broke their duck, to make it 2-1. This spurred them on and 10’ later an equalizer came after the Coleshill goalie was lobbed from 20yards. Just when Coleshill advantage seemed lost, Simon Dumelow earned and scored a penalty in the 83’. Sutton pushed on for the equalizer that never arrived.
At the end of the day, Coleshill’s determination and resilience won through against a skillful Sutton Side.
