Saturday 27th October 2007
Midland Combination Premier Division
Coleshill Town 9 v 1 Brereton Social
Scorers: Matty Robinson 3, Brian Gray 2, Neil Kitching 2, Danny Carter, Michael Campbell.

When top plays bottom the worry is that in the mind the game is won before a ball is kicked. An early goal can sometimes be a hindrence but three goals before the half hour mark ensured that Coleshill would win the game comfortably but a totally professional, if not sparkling, performance saw Town rack up the goals on a regular basis with some clinical finishing.

The report is all about goals so we'll start with a Neil Kitching effort on 15 mins. The play had been scrappy to this point but Brereton are not bottom without reason and their defence just opened up at will. Brian Gray added the second on 25 mins and three mintes later Michael Campbell got his eighth of the season. Brereton did show a bit of fight at this point and their best player Adam Cunningham reduced the deficit on 33 mins. Brian Gray scored his second, three in three appearances since signing from Rushall, on 39 mins to take Coleshill into a 4-1 half time lead.

The second half became the Matty Robinson show as the striker scored a hat trick and also had two efforts wiped out for off side. Robinson scored his first on 50 mins and followed up with his second and Coleshill's sixth on 58 mins. Neil kitching made it seven on 61 before substitute Danny Carter scored the eighth to ensure all four regular strikers hit the net. Matty Robinson completed his hat trick on 85 mins still leaving time for several more chances but Brereton managed to hold down the score below double figures.

Manager Carl Adams was over the moon that he could rotate his forwards and still come up with goals galore. "Brereton were a poor side but you still have to beat what's infront of you. Our finishing was first class and our confidence is booming but we will still get better. We will have much tougher tests to come in the next few weeks but I'm confident that we will rise to the challenge".

Team:- Greg Allan, Andy Sutherland (Liam Taylor), Richard Kavanagh, Rob Hipkiss, Sam Chatwin, Brian Gray, Simon Volante, James Dance (Ryan Scott), Neil Kitching, Michael Campbell (Danny Carter), Matty Robinson. Subs not used David Brush, Josh McPherson.
