Tuesday 25th September 2007
FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round Replay
Bolehall Swifts 0 v 1 Coleshill Town
Scorer: Own Goal.

Coleshill progressed to the First Round Proper of the FA Vase with an own goal settling the replay against Bolehall. Town now play Leek CSOB away at Leek Town's ground on Saturday 6th October.
Manager Carl Adams decided on an adventurous 4-3-3 formation following the stalemate at Pack Meadow, and the move paid off as Coleshill took the game to Bolehall on a night that saw the heavens open just as the players left the changing rooms and rarely let up. Sam Chatwin and Richard Kavanagh returned to the side, Kristian Kelsall started at full back and captain Josh McPherson made up a solid looking back four but the six players in front of them all like to attack and that is what they did as they at times swamped an overworked home defence. The ball skidded off the soaked surface and made for an entertaining game. Swifts had the first chance of the game as Meads slid in at the far post but his effort went wide but then Coleshill took control. Josh McPherson headed wide, Neil Kitching headed on a corner and McPherson’s effort was saved on the line, David Brush shot wide after good work by Robinson and Carter. Robinson then went clear on goal but the keeper parried to Kitching then saved the follow up. A Kitching over head kick then a Dance shot followed before Coleshill finally took the lead they deserved although in fortunate circumstances. Probably the best move of the game involved Chatwin, Robinson and Carter before Brush received the ball left side of the box. His teasing cross along the 6 yard box was begging to be hit home but Ben Roberts, in an attempt to clear, slid the ball into his own net. 1-0 30 mins gone. Brush tried a lob from 25 yards out which just went over the bar before Chris Butler made his first contribution in the Coleshill goal as he saved a Meads side foot shot. The half ended with blocks inside the box from efforts by Robinson, Kitching and Brush.

Coleshill had enjoyed the benefit of the slope and would have hoped for more than just the one goal lead at half time but started the second half determined to increase the lead. Carter had a shot saved then Dance crossed for Kitching who had time and space to pick his spot but his header went wide of the post. A Brush free kick was flicked wide of the post by McPherson before Bolehall hit back with a Haywood cross headed on by Ahmet Bilgimer but saved by Butler. Richard Kavanagh did well to clear for a corner as Haywood lined up a shot then McPherson blocked a Steve Smith effort as Swifts enjoyed their best period of the game. Bigimer did well down the right and his cross was headed clear by Kelsall, then the little forward had a shot blocked but Coleshill hit back as Robinson miss hit a shot from infront of goal and Brush shot just wide from a pass by Morgan. Morgan laid on for Robinson who shot just wide and a cross by Carter was only inches away from Morgan as he slid in on goal. Bolehall started to throw men forward in a desperate attempt to get back into the game. Bilgimer’s cross was met by the head of Smith but the chance went wide. Smith had a shot blocked but the best chance fell to Larkin who dragged his shot the wrong side of the post. It was backs to the wall at this stage but Coleshill held out for a famous and well deserved victory.
