Tuesday 31st October 2006
Midland Combination Premier Division
Barnt Green Spartak 0 v 1 Coleshill Town
Scorer: Danny Carter.

Coleshill had their biggest test of their recent good run of form against one of the title favourites Barnt Green Spartak. Not only did they stand up to the challenge but extended their winning streak to seven league games and in the process broke the club record of time without conceding a goal to 510 minutes.
Ironically Town still haven't hit top form and in the first half their passing was poor but the back bone of the team is strong and the effort and committment cannot be faulted. Green used the slope of the Bromsgrove pitch to their advantage and had the better of the play and the chances. Spartak had won their previous six home games and their power play had Coleshill stretched to the limit, but the back three were magnificent again, backed up by a confident performance by keeper Chris Butler. Ryan Gardiner cleared off the line and Rob Ellis headed clear from underneath his own cross bar as Town defended well but struggled to get their passing game going.
A much improved second half saw probably the best 45 minutes of the season as Coleshill scored once but should have had another couple. On the hour mark Mark Ward sent a ball down the line that Danny Carter scampered after to go clear of the defence and slip the ball under the advancing keeper but with defenders desperatly trying to get back the ball only just crossed the line for the lead. In the next minute Michael Campbell had a great chance to kill the game off as he raced clear but the home keeper made a great stop. Carter and Campbell had shots saved or blocked at one end and at the other Ward, Ellis, Hipkiss and Gardiner all made great tackles to keep Green at bay but the best opportunity fell to the home team on 84 mins directly infront of goal with Chris Butler throwing himself at the ball to denie Spartak and cap an allround impressive half.

Team;- Chris Butler, Mark Ward, Rob Hipkiss, Ryan Gardiner, Rob Ellis, Josh McPherson, Paul Burns, David Brush, Michael Campbell, Danny Carter, Kevin Wagstaff (James Dance). Subs not used Carlos McIntosh, Raddi Richards, Simon Volante.
