Re-Election Fears As Coleshill Fall To Biggest Defeat
Coleshill visited Northfields on Saturday with a chance to make up some of the lost ground in their re-election battle. Play swung from end to end in a thrilling opening session and after Hevingham had gone close to putting Coleshill in front Northfields broke down the left wing for Webber to cross the ball and McDermott drove home a close range shot. Two minutes later a mistake by Colvin, under pressure from Northfield’s Dryhurst, resulted in him making a poor back pass and keeper Witts could only stand and watch as the ball rolled into the far corner of the net. Coleshill hauled themselves back into the game for a header from Griffin to go inches wide and a cross/shot by Allen go just off target. Near half time a smart move involving Page, Moseley and Myatt ended with the latter having the ball smothered by home keeper Wilson. The second half was fairly even with Coleshill often threatening to score, but Northfields increased their lead in the 81st minute through Harris and player/manager Ian McGuffey completed the scoring three minutes later with a great header. This was Coleshill’s biggest defeat of the season.
