CASTLE BROMWICH NEWS WROTE
Still No Joy For Coleshill

Coleshill slumped to their 10th successive Midland Combination defeat, after once again showing good form in the early stages, but then allowing the opposition to gain the upper hand. Gibbons made some promising early runs for Coleshill and in the 13th minute they took the lead when Solihull’s player/manager Dave Cahill pushed Willock and Johnny Allen scored from the penalty spot. Solihull replied immediately and after seeing a shot rebound from the Coleshill cross-bar they too were awarded a penalty, enabling Hawkins to equalise. Hunt tried a snap shot for Coleshill, but the ball went inches wide and in the 25th minute Solihull had a goal disallowed for offside. But Coleshill were now under intense pressure and keeper Sammons produced three excellent saves to foil home efforts. In the 41st minute Solihull jumped in front when Rossi scored, the ball being adjudged to have crossed the line after rebounding from underneath the bar. Coleshill tried hard to keep in the running and at the start of the second half Solihull’s Wall dived bravely at the feet of Hunt to prevent a certain goal. Three successive corners came Coleshill’s way, but they failed to apply the finishing touch. In the 72nd minute Solihull sewed the result up with a fine long range shot from Lyndon beating Sammons.
This Saturday Coleshill Town are at home to Alcester Town in the second round of the Midland Combination Challenge Cup, kick off 2.45p.m.
