COLESHILL CHRONICLE WROTE
Coleshill Finish In Style

Coleshill Town finished their Midland Combination Second Division programme in style with new-signing Roger Masters scoring four of their seven goals against Alvechurch Reserves on Saturday. (Not the last game, they still had to play Alvechurch Away to finish the league season) Coleshill, whose workman-like performance and startling accurancy in the penalty area gave them a fine victory, will be hoping to be among the Coleshill Charity Cup winners awards when they take on Nuneaton League side Morden Fife tonight (Friday). Masters gave Coleshill the lead in the first few minutes when he headed home a Hanlon cross after some good work by Oscar Deeming. Alvechurch settled down more after this goal and came close a couple of times with first time shots by Beard. The visitors gained their reward after 20 minutes when Chandler equalised. Coleshill stormed back into the game after a shaky period and Sanders had hard luck when his shot was cleared off the line by defender Preece. The Town continued to press hard and after some good efforts by Phelps and Sanders they regained the lead with a 38th minute goal by Sanders. Two minutes before half time O’Riordan put Masters through and Coleshill increased their lead when the young centre forward made no mistake. Coleshill were unlucky to see Geoff Statham leave the field early in the second period with a broken arm. Kevin Garbett came on in his place and after a dazzling run was finally brought down in the area. Phelps made no mistake from the spot. Leading 4-1, Coleshill were full value for their advantage and pushed forward constantly with some fine efforts. Masters was again on target midway through the second half and his goal put Coleshill 5-1 up, and completed his hat-trick. Phelps increased the lead in the 80th minute before Masters added another and Gardner scored a second for Alvechurch and could have notched a third goal, three minutes from end as the visitors were awarded a penalty but Lines hammered the ball against the crossbar.
Since youngsters Masters and O’Riordan have been introduced into the side, Coleshill have scored 14 goals in four matches.
