MATCH REPORT
After a disappointing result against Bedworth just two days prior, Manager Grant Joshua was hoping for a better performance, he didn't get it!
This was Coleshill's last league game, due to what should have been the last game cancelled when Walsall Wood folded. It was against Grant Joshua's previous club, who were already relegated, and several ex Coleshill players on show. The home team were up for it, Coleshill were not and had it not been for keeper Tyrese Warmington, the game could have been out of sight by half time. Despite Warmington making several fine saves, Lye took the lead on 6 minutes through Sam Hall and made it two on 17 minutes through Dennis Digie. Somehow, Coleshill dragged themselves back into the game, first with a penalty converted by Ben Usher-Shipway on 22 minutes and then a bizaar equaliser, ex Town Keeper Ben Newey made a fine stop on the goal line but in an effort to clear the ball Joe Burroughs sliced the ball into his own net, 2-2 at half time amazingly!
The second half was more even, just, but when Ethan Moran scored on 75 minutes Coleshill didn't have enough energy to chase an equaliser and so with the Walsall Senior Cup Final on the horizon Coleshill must pick themselves up from two defeats to teams in the relegation zone, and somehow hit some form to repeat the WSC win back in 1983.

Manager Grant Joshua said “I said on Saturday that Bedworth caught us on a bad day, I have no excuses or reasons for today’s performance, Lye have absolutely battered us, ran all over us and if it wasn’t for my goalkeeper it could have been double figures, that’s no exaggeration. Being our last game of the season I didn’t expect us at our fluent best on a pitch I know well, I expect a certain level of commitment, appetite, application and a will to want to play a football match. Unfortunately today we got non of those on the list. I now have a very real problem with picking a team/squad for a cup final against Darlaston because I can’t accept the last two performances and I apologise to the supporters who travelled today to see such a lifeless and abject attempt to play a competitive game of football at step 4. People point to the positives and the chalk and cheese from last season to this, means nothing to me because I have certain standards that aren’t being met. The boys know how I feel about today, how the staff feel about today and I hope they feel the same because if you’ve got no players driving standards then your not winning football matches. I would expect them to rally round each other and put a performance on in 3 weeks for the club and repay them for that today and have personal pride to kick in because they’re better than what they’ve showed today, miles better and they know it. We’ve some real quality in our side but if you don’t want to run then you become a passenger for your teammates”.
