Manager Grant Joshua’s assessment of the 2-1 win at Home to Grantham Town:

Three points was the goal come 5pm but I’m not happy with the performance, not from a desire point of view or lack of work rate I just think we let ourselves down with the quality aspect today. Firstly credit to Grantham, they are much improved under Nathan and they showed today they are not ready to give up on their place at step 4 and I back them to hunt down a few above them. The support they had with them made it a really intense atmosphere and credit to them they did the club proud supporting on a Baltic day it has to be said. My thanks goes to Rob Southall who worked his row out to get that game on today I’m not sure what he did with the 4G but it looked and played remarkably well, so well done mate. I thought we started brightly, yet again and didn’t take early chances and then conceded a sloppy goal from a set piece and we gave a team at the foot of the table hope, and something to hold onto. Usher’s finish after half an hour was sublime to be honest it was just a sign of the quality of player he is at times and he was good today. Second half we pushed and pushed and camped in the half of Grantham really and they didn’t get out many times to test Tyrese apart from a few missile throws coming into our box from the half way line. It’s a penalty for our second and I know they weren’t happy but it’s a penalty and Usher’s full of confidence and dispatches. We then could and should have gone 3,4,5 with yet again guilt edge chances but we just can’t finish them off and that’s where my disappointment comes in not killing teams off and making it a fight up until the whistle. I would like to sit down and be comfortable with us in a game at some point. We have a quarter final Monday against a side who are flying recently and we will pick a team accordingly to distribute minutes to boys who deserve them.
