MATCH REPORT
Coleshill travelled to Hednesford in the Second Round of the Birmingham Senior Cup, both teams having a bye in the First Round, knowing that the winners would host Solihull Moors in Round 3. Hednesford's gound, Keys Park, is very impressive and easily Football League standard. The Pit Men play at the same level as Coleshill but in the Northern Premier League West Division and are real promotion candidates this season and are managed by ex Coleshill player Gavin Hurren. (They did gain promotion to the NPL Premier Division through the Play Offs after finishing in 2nd place)
In front of an impressive crowd of 460 Hednesford deservadly took the lead on 13 minutes through Sion Spence. Coleshill were struggling to match their opponents but managed to stay in the game with the score 1-0 at half time. Alex McSkeane levelled the scores on 50 minutes, a rare Coleshill attack and an even rarer McSkeane headed goal. Zidan Sutherland put the home team back in front on 67 minutes and a second goal for Spence on 82 minutes secured the win putting the Pitmen through to the next round.
A disappointing display for Coleshill but their league games will take priority this season.
