A VIEW FROM THE OTHER SIDE
A Report from Daventry Town

By Richard Nunney

Daventry Town came out of last night’s game with a creditable draw against play off contenders Coleshill Town.

Town had a mountain to climb right from the off as Coleshill had an early penalty given as Tom Lorraine was adjudged to have deflected a free kick illegally with his arm. The resultant penalty was converted by Kai Tonge hitting a penalty down the middle of the goal.

The first half saw chances for both sides. Keeper James Martin forced into a good save on 30 minutes. Daventry had a couple of half chances falling to George Ball with a free kick and Tom Lorraine who’s header went into the keeper’s arms.

At half time it was Coleshill with a slender lead.

Daventry’s equaliser game on 57 minutes via Jack Bowen. His header at the back post from a George Ball cross took an age to go in off the post to put the scores level.

Coleshill had a chance towards the end on approximately 80 minutes when James Martin made a superb double save. The first low down and then the second acrobatically tipping over whilst flying across his goal!

At the final whistle, the scoreline reflected a level and entertaining game with Daventry getting a well earned point.
