THE NON LEAGUE PAPER WROTE

Chasetown cruised to victory thanks to an impressive first half display. These two sides have managed to avoid each other for many years as they both progressed through the Non League pyramid system. The only time they have met in a competitive game was in the F.A. Trophy back in 2019 in which Chasetown came out on top 3-0. This was the first meeting at Pack Meadow.
Coleshill had a disaster of a first half. Shay Palmer was sent off for a high tackle on the edge of the home box in the first minute. The in form Joey Butlin took the kick which was deflected off the wall leaving home keeper Paul Hathaway stranded. Coleshill went further behind on 38 minutes with a sensational effort from Danny O’Callaghan. Jack Langston wasn’t far away with a shot from outside the box but just before the break he made sure with a very similar effort to make it three. The goal scoring continued early in the second half. On 51 minutes a corner was headed on and Luke McGinnell headed home for number four but just three minutes later Coleshill finally got something to cheer about as Niall Rowe headed home, in off the post.

MATCH REPORT
These two sides have managed to avoid each other for many years as they both progressed through the Non League pyramid system. They have been at the same level for the last three seasons but Coleshill have been in the Southern League and Chasetown in the Northern. The only time they have met in a competitive game was in the F.A. Trophy back in 2019 in which Chasetown came out on top 3-0. This was the first meeting at Pack Meadow.

Coleshill are still missing Liam Molesworth but captain Taylor Carter-Byrne returned to the starting line up.

Coleshill had a disaster of a first half. Shay Palmer was sent off for a high tackle on the edge of the home box in the first minute. It was a rash challenge that deserved a card but a Red one was harsh considering how early in the game the incident occurred. The in form Joey Butlin took the kick which was deflected off the wall leaving home keeper Paul Hathaway stranded. 1-0 3 minutes on the clock. Coleshill actually played some decent football and even with ten men matched their opponents but they went further behind on 38 minutes with a sensational long range effort from Danny O’ Callaghan. Jack Langston wasn’t far away with a shot from outside the box but just before the break he made sure with a very similar effort that was drilled along the floor and out of reach of keeper Hathaway to make it three.
Half time Coleshill 0-3 Chasetown

The goal scoring continued early in the second half. On 51 minutes a Langston corner was headed on at the near post and Luke McGinnell headed home for number four. Coleshill almost hit back immediately but the visitors keeper Pond saved an effort from Vidal Hendrickson before Coleshill finally got something to cheer about as Niall Rowe headed home, in off the post, on 54 minutes for his first goal for the Colemen. With the points in the bag the game became much more even with Coleshill giving as good as they got but once again a Red Card has cost them dear.

Scholars win on the road again!
By Paul Mullins

A stunning away win saw Chasetown overcome early top of the table rivals Coleshill.

Chasetown could not have wished for a better start. The referee awarded a straight red card to Shay Palmer and the Scholars took an immediate lead when Joey Butlin's free kick deflected off the defensive wall. Many of the following minutes were fairly even despite the man difference. But Chasetown finally added a second when skipper Danny O’Callaghan fired a long ranger past Paul Hathaway. By half time it was 3-0 as Jack Langston added his name to the score sheet with a low shot along the ground.
Chasetown were further ahead 6 minutes into the second half when Luke McGinnell powered home a header from a Langston corner. Chase keeper Curtis Pond made a superb low save to deny Vidal Hendrickson but then Coleshill did reduce the deficit as Niall Rowe netted.
The Scholars looked more likely to add to the score line but neither side could add to the goals from the first hour of the game.
